dr n. vet. Maciej Guzera
Diploma in European Veterinary Clinical Pathology Specialist EBVS®. He received his veterinary degree from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the Warsaw University of Life Sciences in 2010 and defended his doctoral dissertation in 2014. After obtaining membership of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (MRCVS), he completed a residency internship at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge, where he then worked as a clinical pathologist. In 2017, he passed the European specialization exam in clinical pathology of the European College of Veterinary Clinical Pathology. For 7 years, he was associated with Laboklin Polska. He is currently opening his own diagnostic laboratory LabFocus in Warsaw and is starting cooperation with the Antech Diagnostics UK / Dick White Referrals laboratory. He conducts numerous lectures, seminars and workshops in the field of his specialization. Additionally, he is the Polish representative in the European Board of Veterinary Specialisation (EBVS). His main areas of interest include cytology, hematology and clinical chemistry of companion animals, and in particular the use of advanced tests (including flow cytometry and lymphocyte clonality assessment) in the diagnosis of hematological malignancies in animals. He has participated in many research projects – he is the author of numerous publications in peer-reviewed Polish and foreign journals. During his work at universities in Warsaw, Toruń and Cambridge, he gained teaching experience. He has also completed many scientific internships, including at the University of California in Davis, the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, the In Vitro Laboratory in Vienna and the CTDS Laboratory in Leeds. He has won many awards, including the Zoetis Clinical Research Publication Award 2014, the Zoetis Travel Bursary Awards 2015 and the Polish Society of Veterinary Science Awards.
Dr. Agnieszka Cekiera, Vet.
She is an experienced veterinarian and a specialist in dog and cat diseases. In 2009, she graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Life Sciences in Wrocław, and in 2013 she obtained a doctorate in veterinary sciences at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine with the Clinic of Horses, Dogs and Cats. During her doctoral studies (2009-2013), she deepened her knowledge and gained clinical experience.
In 2012, she began specialist studies in the field of dog and cat diseases, which established her position as an expert in this field. In 2014, she joined the Dermatology and Endocrinology Clinic of the Department of Internal Medicine with the Clinic of Horses, Dogs and Cats.
Since 2015, she has been an assistant professor, and in the same year she obtained the title of specialist in dog and cat diseases. Since January 2023, she has been the Chair of the Dermatology Section of the Polish Small Animal Veterinary Association (PSAVA). Dr. Agnieszka Cekiera is also an active member of the veterinary community, engaging in many scientific and educational projects.
Rules:
The group has a maximum of 25 participants, and each of them works on a separate microscope.
Despite the important role played by cytological examination, precise diagnosis depends on in-depth theoretical knowledge and understanding of its limitations. Accurate interpretation of cytological observations is essential for proper therapy in patients.
